Appointment - Her Honour Judge Rosemary Carlin

The Governor in Council has today appointed Coroner Rosemary Carlin as a judge of the County Court of Victoria.

Judge Carlin studied at the University of Melbourne where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1982 and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 1983.

She was admitted to practice in April 1985 and signed the Bar Roll in May 1991, after working as a solicitor at Clarke Richards and then joining the Commonwealth DPP in Melbourne and the ACT.

Judge Carlin practised at the private Bar from 1991-1998, with a focus on prosecution briefs. Her prosecutorial skills were recognised with later appointments as Crown Prosecutor for Victoria, Senior Crown Prosecutor for the Northern Territory and In-House Counsel for the Commonwealth DPP.

In September 2007 Judge Carlin was appointed a Magistrate. She began working exclusively as a Coroner in 2014.

The profession will extend a welcome to Judge Carlin in Court 3-3 of the County Court on Thursday 3 October at 9.15am.
