In conversation with Justice Michelle Quigley and Emily Porter

3Jun2020

On 16 March, when the Premier announced the State of Emergency, VCAT adjourned all face-to-face hearings in the Tribunal. In the following weeks, the Tribunal worked to introduce the technology and the procedures to deal with cases remotely, or, where possible, on the papers. On 18 May, VCAT expanded the types of matters that it hears, including those already listed that could reasonably proceed using telephone or video conferencing.

In the fifth of the Victorian Bar’s webinar series, Emily Porter is in conversation with Justice Michelle Quigley, President of VCAT. They will speak about how VCAT has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, how the Tribunal is triaging cases, and you will have the opportunity to ask her Honour about how VCAT is working through its case load to ensure that cases are heard and justice is served.
