Harry is currently on a leave of absence from the Victorian Bar, studying a Masters of International Business Law at the University of Helsinki focusing on the practice areas of privacy law, data protection and technology.
Harry is an experienced civil and tech law barrister.
Harry has conducted litigation as Counsel in matters in both the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal.
He has extensive civil law experience in matters involving contract law, business law, privacy law, compliance, technology and complex evidence.
Academic publications and legal authorship
Harry's legal authorship is focused upon privacy law and technology, with a special focus on the GDPR and data transfers effecting international tech companies and businesses.
Earlier in his career, he authored a textbook on evidence and appellate law which was published and sold at the Law Institute of Victoria Bookshop. He also wrote many academic articles which were published in the Law Institute Journal of Victoria.
Supreme Court - Court of Appeal
Harry has specialised experience in the Supreme Court of Victoria conducting highly technical Court of Appeal matters relating to evidence, civil law statutory interpretation and criminal law. An example of some of his appearances in the Court of Appeal include: Hanlon v The Queen [2018] VSCA 81 (Unsafe Verdict), Brian Gregory (a Pseudonym) v The Queen [2017] VSCA 151 (Sentencing) and Allen (a Pseudonym) v The Queen [2016] VSCA 59 (Conduct of Counsel).
