New display cabinets to house the memorabilia and treasures of the Bar

[18 Jun 2009]

The lack of suitable space to display the Bar’s wonderful collection of memorabilia has long been a source of consternation to many at the Bar.

Well no longer; the Arts and Collections Committee, through the skilled hands of John Larkins QC, has done something about it.

John has generously donated his labour to build four display cabinets, to a design by Perry McNeilage, and now located in the Essoign Club on the 1st Floor.

Over the next few weeks, the Committee will place a selection of the Bar’s memorabilia and treasures in the cabinets. These items were received by or donated to the Bar over many years, and until now were either kept in the Bar Council chambers or were otherwise not available for general viewing.

The Committee hopes that these treasures will be of interest to the whole Bar.

The Bar will hold a function in the near future to celebrate the event and thank John for his generosity.

If anyone has any queries or suggestions, please contact Kate McMillan, Chair of the Arts and Collections Committee.
