It is with deep regret that the Bar Council informs members of the death last Thursday, 10 May 2012, of Ronald Clark. He was 70, having been born on 13 April 1942.

Victorian Attorney-General Robert Clark tonight presented the annual Victorian Bar Pro Bono Awards honouring 11 barristers who were among the growing pool of advocates who gave more than 40,000 hours of free legal assistance to some of the most disadvantaged communities over the past 12 months.

It is with deep regret that the Bar Council informs members of the death last Saturday, 12 May 2012, of the Honourable William Kaye – father of Justice Stephen Kaye and grandfather of Roslyn Kaye, both of our Bar. His Honour was 93, having been born on 8 February 1919.
Victorian Bar signs 31 new members

Thirty-one new barristers signed the Victorian Bar Roll last week at a ceremony in the Supreme Court Library after completion of the Bar Readers Course. These readers take the total number of barristers on the Bar Roll in Victoria from 1875 to 1906.

State Budget Still Short on Legal Aid

Victoria’s peak legal bodies today welcomed the Victorian Government’s pledge to continue to provide an additional $26 million to Legal Aid each year for the next four years.
