Profile:
Lisa has a diverse commercial practice with a strong focus on Trade Practices, Insurance, Professional Negligence and Intellectual Property. She has frequently advised and acted for the ACCC, including in Part IV prosecutions (such as the Visy Industries case).  She has acted for solicitors and building and construction industry professionals in defending professional negligence claims (including in major complex actions surrounding contaminated land).  Lisa is experienced in IT- related copyright and license disputes and regularly advises on trademark and copyright infringement actions.

Lisa has extensive experience in class actions, including in claims arising out of failed property investments and in shareholder claims for breaches of the continuous disclosure and managed investment scheme provisions of the Corporations Act.  She appeared in the High Court in Mobil Oil Australia Pty Ltd v State of Victoria (which examined the constitutional validity of Victoria’s class action legislation). Lisa is a member of the Federal Court’s Class Actions Committee.

Lisa was recently appointed junior Counsel Assisting the Royal Commission into the February 2009 Bushfires.

Prior to coming to the bar Lisa was a commercial litigator for 10 years. She was, from 2001, a partner at Slater & Gordon and was head of its commercial litigation practice in Melbourne.  There she ran numerous commercial matters and class actions (including the Longford Gas class action) and acted for Rolah McCabe against British American Tobacco. Lisa was awarded the Supreme Court Prize (Monash University) in 1997.
