Alan’s main work at the Bar from 1999 until 2007 was as ‘counsel assisting’ at the Legal Profession Tribunal and then VCAT in civil disputes between clients and their legal practitioners. Alan also has experience in Magistrates Court jurisdictions both criminal and civil, Crimes Compensation, Intervention Orders, County Court criminal appeals, VCAT and Interlocutory matters in Supreme, County and Federal Courts, Family Court. He has taught Contract law, Company law, Property Law and Introduction to Law at both Homesglen TAFE and RMIT. He has also volunteered for many years at community legal services at Western Suburbs (Newport) Fitzroy and Preston. Prior to joining the Bar in 1995 Alan travelled extensively in Australia and overseas (India, UK, France and Canada) working with various disenfranchised groups from ex prisoners, the homeless and the disabled. Alan’s main practice now is in mediation. He is on the mediation panels for the Small Business Commissioner and the Office of Mediation Advisor and is accredited as a 'Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner'.
