to my desktop computer?
It is possible to connect your laptop to your desktop computer.
You may need some additional hardware and your laptop may
need to be setup. Call 6664 if you
would like to set this up.

and files from other people connected to the Vicbar Network?
Sharing files and printers can be arranged for anyone connected
to the Vicbar Network. It can be very handy for barristers
who share secretaries or case files with other barristers.
Passwords are required to share files as a security precaution.
Note: The remote computer must be on to be able to access
the information stored on it.
This is generally set up on the initial connection to the
Vicbar Network, but can be arranged by calling 6664.

backup my data to a safe remote location?
Having received several calls over the years from people
who have lost all of their important documents either through
hardware failure or theft of their computers it became apparent
that many people don't backup their data properly (if
at all). I have created a program that is easy to use
and operates silently and automatically in the background.

TO TOP How can I change my
home page?
The home page is the default starting location for your Internet
browser. You can make your home page location anything you
wish. Most people will have the Vicbar Internet site as their
home page. You may have your own home page or prefer to start
with the daily news.
To change your home page load your Internet browser. Go to
the "Tools" menu option. Then select "Internet
Options". Then enter your home page address in the home
page box.

TO TOP Does the Vicbar Network
use Proxy Servers?
A proxy server is a server that makes application requests
on behalf of a client and relays results back to the client.
This is often used for a simple firewall. The Vicbar Network
is a very complex network, and we do not require the use of
proxy servers.

- what do I need to do?
If you are moving chambers and wish to be able to use the
Vicbar network in your new chambers you will need to email
the System Administrator before
you move who will email you easy to follow instructions.

Banking.
People are becoming more and more dependant on on-line banking
and online shopping. It is important to remember not to enter
any secret or confidential information on web pages unless
it is a secure connection. Secure connections are indicated
by a small lock symbol near the bottom of the screen.
