Alternate Dispute Resolution
The Victorian Bar's dispute resolution service is well resourced
as a result of the opening of the Victorian Bar Mediation
Centre, a purpose-built mediation facility. The Mediation
Centre was developed by the Victorian Bar Council to cater
for the needs of parties undergoing mediation and thus is
an efficient and comfortable environment in which parties
can resolve disputes.
Mediation Centre
The Victorian Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee
made a significant contribution to the design of the Centre
through its experience in mediation and its desire to establish
a first class facility.
The Mediation Centre consists of two boardrooms and four meeting rooms
supported by ancillary services such as catering, photocopying
and receptionist. See floor plan below.

The normal configuration for a two party mediation is a boardroom
which seats 18 people comfortably and 2 meeting rooms each
of which seat 10 people.
The Mediation Centre is thus able to conduct two mediations simultaneously
or the entire Mediation Centre can be booked in order to accommodate
larger mediations.
The seating arrangements are quite flexible so that the Mediation Centre
can be used as a conference facility for appropriately sized
groups.
When required, arrangements can be made for hearings outside
Melbourne.
