Q. Could we have a facility on the home page itself to find a barrister? (25.5.07)
A. Yes this is now in place - see the top of the home page.

Q. Slow searching in the barristers directory (20.10.06)

A. Second time round searching of a name in the directory has been reported as very slow. We have identified the fault and this problem is being remedied.

Q. Access to past CLE papers (20.10.06)

A. From 1 February 2007, access to CLE papers on the Bar’s website will be restricted to those members of the Victorian Bar and authorized subscribers who have been issued a user name and password. Members are asked to apply to the Bar Council office on the prescribed application form for their own user name and password.

The user name and password will also allow on-line access to the member’s personal information on the Bar’s website and other restricted areas on the website.

Forms should be returned no later than 15 January 2007 in hard copy to Miriam Sved at the Bar office: Level 5, Owen Dixon Chambers East, 205 William Street, Melbourne 3000, or faxed to (03) 9225 6068.

Q. How can I easily access the Practice Rules (5.7.06)

A. We have installed a new link on the home page just above "Welcome to the Victorian Bar" Subject headings in the rules are hyperlinked.

Q. How can I update my profile? (1.6.06)

A. We have completed the software required to give members online access to their profile. Entry will be via the menu Privacy and Personal Information in the Members' section. Members are asked to apply to the Bar Council office on the prescribed application form for their own user name and password.

Q. Can there be a link on the home page to a list of all barristers? (26.2.06)

A. We appreciate the popularity of the barristers' directory. With navigation menus on the home page, we are balancing competing demands for access to a variety of information. If you wish to go straight to either the alphabetical list of barristers or to the search page, best to bookmark that page in your browser. Listing all barristers on one page has a longer download time and not everyone enjoys the fast download speed of broadband internet access.
