Jonathan has a general commercial and equity practice. In particular, he accepts briefs to appear and advise in commercial, equity, trusts and probate matters. His practice encompasses equitable claims, including proprietary estoppels and constructive trusts. He also has extensive experience in all applications under the Trustee Act 1958, the Wills Act 1997 and the Administration and Probate Act 1958, including testators family maintenance.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Jonathan was the senior associate to the Honourable Justice McMillan at the Supreme Court of Victoria. In that role, Jonathan assisted her Honour in the running of the Trusts, Equity and Probate List and the Testators Family Maintenance List in the Common Law Division. He routinely sat in complex probate and trusts proceedings and worked on trials in a range of areas, including equity, property, judicial review and commercial law. He also supported her Honour on urgent probate applications, including limited grants ad colligendum bona, ad litem and pendente lite.
Before his associateship, Jonathan was a solicitor with Hall & Wilcox. Whilst there, Jonathan worked in the Corporate & Commercial division, principally in the intellectual property team. He assisted clients with trademark registrations and disputes, mergers and acquisitions and the drafting of complex contracts in the IT and media industries.
Jonathan completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Melbourne in 2013.
