Paul practises in sports law, business law and white-collar / corporate crime — with a particular interest in sporting agreements / contracts, forensic accounting investigations and the use of business data analytics as evidence in financial markets / services.
Paul was articled and then practised law at Allens in the property, infrastructure and tax groups, and also advised in banking & finance, corporations and trade practices matters. Prior to that, he held technical & senior management positions in corporate and commercial banking.
Paul holds a Doctorate in Law concerning the regulation of banking and financial services in the Internet/ electronic age. He previously completed the Juris Doctor in Law at the University of Melbourne, and was awarded the Dean's Prize in 6 subjects — including Tax Law, Property Law, Trusts Law, Equity Law, Legal Theory and Comparative International Law, and was the student placed first in the elective LLM subject, Dispute Resolution in the Internet Era.
He has a Master of Business (Accounting and Finance) and is a regular sessional teacher in Law at the University of Melbourne and Victoria University. He has recently delivered conference papers on current issues in Internet, banking and property law, including at the London School of Economics and Trinity College, Dublin.
Dr White was recently appointed as the Director of the Law & Economics Program at Victoria University and is author of the seminal book, "The Formulation of Efficient Laws."
Paul has successfully acted in many court cases involving complex banking/ finance, property, tax & bankruptcy/ insolvency matters.
Also, he has advised and reached favourable outcomes in trials regarding sporting player / club / league disputes.
Paul is taking briefs in sports law, commercial litigation and white-collar/ corporate crime.
