Serge was admitted in February 2002 after completing his Articles with Armstrong Collins and Delacy of Kyneton. Prior to commencing the Readers' Course Serge was a senior prosecutor specialising in contested criminal hearings in the Magistrates' Court and Children's Court on behalf of Victoria Police. His range of experience in criminal advocacy includes serious assaults, dishonesty offences, drug offences, sexual offences, motor traffic law and stalking and intervention orders.
Serge was also a lecturer on the prosecutors' course in advocacy, criminal procedure, evidence and statutory interpretation and a guest lecturer in criminal law at Melbourne University School of Law. In addition to criminal proceedings Serge has appeared on behalf of Victoria Police at coronial inquests, disputed property hearings, FOI and discovery proceedings and disciplinary tribunal hearings. He is currently the Chair of Investigations at the Australian Institute of Public Safety where he lectures on investigations (criminal law and evidence).
Serge is on the Victoria Legal Aid Preferred Trial Counsel List.
