Profile

He is a foundation member and former Chair of the Law Council of Australia Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation and Arbitration) Committee, foundation Chair of the Victorian Bar Sports Law Committee, a Grade I Arbitrator of the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia, an Arbitrator Member of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS -Switzerland), and a Fellow of the International Council for the Settlement of Investment Disputes and a member of its Panel of Conciliators (ICSID - Washington). He is an acknowledged pioneer in court referred mediation and specialist in alternative dispute resolution including expert determination in all areas of law. He is involved in sports law adjudication at the international level (Olympic and Commonwealth Games); sports administration at the international level (former President of the Australian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association until 2006); and at the national level (a Director of the Western Bulldogs Australian Rules Football club). He was a member of the ad hoc Tribunals for the Commonwealth Games Melbourne 2006 and New Delhi 2010. He is the Australian Ambassador of the Australian Football League Peace Team competing in the 2008 and 2011 AFL International Cups. He was honoured with an OAM in the 2012 Queens Birthday honours list for service to the law, particularly in the area of alternative dispute resolution, to professional associations, and to the community. In September 2012 he was inducted as a Living Legend of the Victorian Bar.
